Collected at your hotel
The evening starts where you're staying: a driver collects guests door-to-door rather than asking them to find a meeting point across town. For a first evening in an unfamiliar city, that's one less thing to plan around the day's sightseeing, and it means the evening can start straight from wherever you've spent the afternoon.
Past the cathedral by car
The sightseeing itself is a panoramic drive rather than a walking tour. It begins at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, its gold dome lit against the evening sky, with an English-speaking guide narrating from inside an air-conditioned vehicle as it loops through Sofia's government quarter.
Seven landmarks by car
Between the cathedral and dinner, the drive passes Narodno Sabranie Square and the National Assembly building, the monument to Tsar Alexander II, the Russian Church of St Nicholas, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, the Presidency and Council of Ministers, the National Palace of Culture and the Vasil Levski National Stadium — seven landmarks in one loop, seen from the car rather than on foot.
Arriving for dinner
Once the drive finishes, the group is driven to a well-known Sofia dining room for the evening's three-course Bulgarian dinner. Put a vegetarian order or any other dietary requirement on record when you book, rather than raising it once plates start arriving.
The folklore programme and the horo
Dinner runs alongside a folklore show of Bulgarian music and dance. The dancing follows the meal's courses, building through the evening's second half as the folklore group draws the room in, rather than starting the moment the first plate lands.
Back to your hotel
The same door-to-door transport that collected you returns the group to their Sofia hotels once the evening winds down, closing the loop without a taxi to book or a night bus to find.
